The Crash Course is an 11-part online course that teaches your communications directors how to create videos using the assets they already have. And we’ll teach them everything else they need to know including how to: prepare and budget for a video project, write scripts, conduct interviews, shoot video using their cell phones, edit videos, and share their work on social media.

Each session is hosted by Gerard Matthews, a documentary filmmaker, and former journalist and nonprofit communications director. Gerard has worked with countless nonprofits, candidates, movements, causes, and artists to help them tell their stories. After each session, students are given an assignment that they then share with the group. Those assignments are then discussed and built upon throughout the course until each student has all the tools needed to start creating content on their own. They have access to the content for a full year in case they need to revisit any of the course material. Participants are also given editing templates to make their lives easier and set them up for success once the course is finished.
