Video training for nonprofit communication leaders
Our mission is to empower do-gooders and nonprofits to create video content that builds community, celebrates their work, and amplifies their message.
The Crash Course is specifically designed as a tool nation-wide funders, foundations, and nonprofit organizations can provide for their state-level groups or grantees. As a grantor or funder, you can foot the bill to have videos produced for your grantees or you can train them to do it themselves. Once they know a few tricks and tips, your message will be spread far and wide - and shared and liked!
The Crash Course is an 11-part online course that teaches you how to create videos using the assets you already have. And we’ll teach you everything else you need to know including how to: prepare and budget for a video project, write scripts, conduct interviews, shoot video using your cell phone, edit videos, and share your content on social media.

Each session is hosted by Gerard Matthews, a documentary filmmaker, and former journalist and nonprofit communications director. Gerard has worked with countless nonprofits, candidates, movements, causes, and artists to help them tell their stories. After each session, students are given an assignment that they then share with the group. Those assignments are then discussed and built upon throughout the course until each student has all the tools needed to start creating content on their own. Participants are also given editing templates to make their lives easier and set them up for success once the course is finished.
